10 WORDS FROM NORTHERN EUROPEAN LANGUAGES IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. KEY

                       Following
the previous  post - 10 Words From Northern European Languages In  The English Language-, today's post presents the KEY to the activities included in it:

The first activity is about matching the image with the right word and its definition.
The second one consists of relating the countries, the  flags, and, then, the nationalities and languages spoken in the countries.
In the third one, the words are linked to their country of origin.
Finally, the words should be translated into the learner's own language.

I do hope you find the Key useful.

10 WORDS FROM NORTHERN EUROPEAN LANGUAGES IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Today, further on the ‘borrowings’ or words that, coming from other languages, have shaped the English Language, I am uploading a presentation of 10 words from Northern European Languages in the English Language.
As it usually happens with this kind of linguistic phenomenon, you seldom realize these words are borrowing:
to such an extent these words have become part of the English Language.
If your students are beginners or post-beginners (CEFR A1-A2), they may need some help from you, some brainstorming time before they try to do the tasks: it all depends on their knowledge or experience.

The tasks included in this presentation are suitable for CEFR B1-B2 learners of English, or intermediate and post-intermediate

TASKS & SUGGESTED PROCEDURE

I. Go through the 10 slides. Circle the word each image depicts.
Read the definitions, then match images & definitions.
II. Identify the countries. Write the names of the countries and match them with the flags. Then, write the nationalities & languages spoken in each country.
III. Finally, decide which words come from which country.
I will upload a key in a few days.
If you come up with some other words, let me know in the comment section.
Your feedback is highly appreciated.
I do hope you find this post useful.
