ICEBREAKING ACTIVITY (3): GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER (2)

Hi again.

This teaching resource -GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER (2)- is intended either to warm up your group on the first lessons or to make your students focus on the teacher rather than on the textbook. The aim is to get info about you, and from you, by means of questions.

Pair up your students. Each pair should go through the text and prepare the questions beforehand, or let them ask questions individually at random.
At the end of it, go through the text and check the questions, with or without the key.
B1 students should be able to do this.

I hope you find this resource useful either as a mean to foster your students' oral/aural skills or check their progress.

ICEBREAKING ACTIVITY (2): 'GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER'

Dear all,

Whether you are about to start the school year or have just started, I'm posting this teaching resource -GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER- intended either to warm up the group on your first lessons or to make your students  focus on the teacher, instead of on the textbook, and on getting info about him/her.

You might have your students in pairs or in small groups, so that each pair/group can prepare the questions beforehand. Then, the questions should be asked in turns to be finally checked by the teacher with or without the key.

A1 & A2 students should be able to go through these sentences & ask the required questions to fill in the gaps.

Shortly I'll be uploading a warming up resource for B1 students.

I hope you find this resource useful either as a means to foster the students' oral/ aural skills or to check their progress.

SONG: BIEBER & FONSI's DESPACITO LISTENING EXERCISE

This time on the blog I'm posting the same song, but a different listening exercise intended for CEFR B1&B2 students.

This Bieber and Fonsi's  remix,  among several other versions which were released  DESPACITO    after Fonsi's original song, following the single's success, is probably the most heard, especially in the English-speaking countries.

Even if in most European countries schools are having their summer break, I hope this Despacito presentation can be useful for you all.
In the same way as in the previous Despacito listening exercise, it consists of a listening activity where some tasks are to be carried out going through the bilingual lyrics.

I hope you like it and find it useful.

Best regards and happy summer....or winter.

SONG: ´DESPACITO´LISTENING EXERCISE

DESPACITO

Hello
If I write that this time on the blog I am posting a  song in Spanish, you are bound to guess this song is Despacito

Released in January 2017, Despacito became the first  song in Spanish to top the Bill Board Hot 100  since Macarena  in 1996. With over 1.500.000.000 views on YouTube, Despacito can be heard everywhere, at any time, from  New  Zealand to UK.

This is a   bilingual activity which implies a little bit of translation. It will  allow the students to listen to the song in Spanish while they have  to go through the lyrics translated into English at the same time and choose the right word.
If your students are Spanish speaking or familiar with Spanish, the task will be easy for them.
If your students are not familiar with Spanish, their listening process will be a bit harder and will probably take longer, but it won't be  impossible: they could go through the Spanish song for the first time, then through the  English version, and finally they will probably be able to  listen to the song and carry out the task.
Another option is to present them the vocabulary involved in the activity in both languages beforehand.
Whichever option you choose, they are likely to enjoy the song.

This activity is intended for beginners or A1/A2 CEFR students.

I hope you enjoy it.

EASTER: DAYS & DATES, RECIPES, SYMBOLS & TRADITIONS

Dear all,
As Easter time is approaching I thought you might like to focus your lesson on Easter celebrations.
Some of the aspects of Easter celebrations in Anglo-Saxon Christian countries differ from the ones in some southern and western Christian countries. So, I have prepared a presentation of Easter-related issues, such as dates and days, Easter cuisine, and symbols and traditions.
Depending on your students' levels, according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), this might be a suggested procedure:

A1/2 STUDENTS
. Teacher/a student reads the texts aloud
. Teacher explains any new words
. Students answer the comprehension questions, then in writing.

B1 STUDENTS
. Brainstorm your students
. Students read the texts
. Students ask/answer the questions one another. Then, in writing.

B2 STUDENTS
. Students read the texts
. Whole class: questions 1 & 2.
. Small groups: questions 3, 4, & 5.

As usual, your feedback is of the essence.
I hope you find this resource useful.
