SONG:"WONDERFUL LIFE" LISTENING EXERCISE

Hi again, Here you have another song based listening exercise: "Wonderful Life". Black, the Liverpool singer who died last January, had a global hit at the end of the 80's with this song. In this exercise the students are given a pair of options. They will have to choose the right one while listening to the song. However, not only phonetics will be of the essence, but semantics will also play a key role in this activity. The students’ passive vocabulary will be activated while new vocabulary will be acquired. I hope your students enjoy this activity and you keep finding these materials inspiring and interesting. *ENGLISH in maribelmiroenglish.blogspot.com.es, by Maria Isabel Miró Pérez, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. THE KIWI: CLOZE TEST+KEY

Hi everybody,

Thank you so much  for your feedback.

Here you have THE KIWI, a cloze test with key I designed as an eXeLearning activity to be uploaded in a Moodle platform.
Though submitting your responses and getting the right answer is not possible in this blog, I have included the same text with the right responses so that the students can self-correct the exercise. All blanks require prepositions.
I hope you find it useful.
Thank you again for your feedback. Knowing that these materials are being used in so many countries makes me feel much encouraged to go on.

SONG: "SUMMERCAT" LISTENING EXERCISE

Hi everybody,
Here you have another song based listening exercise.
Summercat in Sweden refers to a cat being abandoned at the end of the summer when returning to  town, in the same way as the singer feels he is being treated.
In this exercise the students will choose the right verb  from a given number of infinitives, then will inflect each one  in the right tense, mostly the past tense of both, regular and irregular verbs, in order to fill in the gaps. Some vocabulary will also be activated by means of the drawings.
I hope your students enjoy this activity and you find it useful as well.

LONDON: CLOZE TEST + KEY

Dear all,
Here you have LONDON, a cloze test with key I designed as an eXeLearning activity to be uploaded in a Moodle platform.

Though submitting your responses and getting the right answer is not possible in this blog, I have included the same text with the right responses so that the students can self-correct the exercise. Most of the blanks require prepositions, and there are also some relatives.
I hope you find it useful.

ICEBREAKING ACTIVITY (1): FIND SOMEONE WHO/WHOSE...

 ICEBREAKING ACTIVITY

Dear all,
As an icebreaking activity, this questionnaire is intended to warm up the group of students with something different from their textbooks or learning materials.
Although there are some questions to be asked and/or answered in the Present Simple Tense, most of the questions on the left column have to be asked in the Present Perfect, and the questions on the right have to be asked/answered in the Past Tense.
The students will have to use both tenses –Present Perfect versus Past Tense- thus hopefully realizing the difference between both of them:
the Present Perfect questions -on the left- mainly referring to the students'  past experience, and the questions on the right aiming at a specific date and/or a place in their past life.
I hope you find this questionnaire useful, either at the beginning of the school year, which has just started in some countries, or as a means to practice and foster their oral/aural skills or to check the students' progress.
