Miguel García, AKA Repollo, lives in
Villacarrillo, a small village in
Jaén, Andalusia.
Miguel’s grandfather nicknamed him *Repollo because of the
early age, his plumpness, and his small size when he got hold of a guitar for the first time:
One day, while walking across the village Fair his
parents realized Miguel was carrying a guitar.
His father said, ‘give that guitar back’. Repollo
just uttered these words: ‘please, dad, pay for it. I’m gonna be a guitarist’.
Repollo was just 4 years old.
-
Repollo, born into a gypsy family of 6
siblings, and an extended family of several dozens of
relatives, is the only one to
play the guitar. Although his
father says that the great guitar player Paco de Lucía was a distant relative, and
La Chispa –Camarón’s wife- is among his family relatives, Miguel has never had any kind of contact with them.
At 10 he played the guitar for the first time.
At 13 he started guitar studies at the Conservatorio in Linares, Jaén.
Miguel already performs in
flamenco shows, not only to take part in them among
the palmeros, cantaores, and bailaores,
but also as a soloist, whose art makes us xxx think we are admiring such a talented guitar player,
he shows promise and can already
be considered a young flamenco
star.
